Briefing Summary

Design a personal bag, something that speaks of your persona. Pay careful attention to use of materials and how space is utilized, while bearing in mind feasibility for production.

Comments

This was a reasonably short cycle project, leaving a not much time to bring it to fruition. When analyzing the brief I decided that I wanted to design a bag for someone on the go, or at least a student moving from class, to lecture, to factory or home (in other words me). Part of how I approached this was to define external and internal storage and what they would contain. External would contain everything that had to be 'ready to hand', and would have to be immediately accessible, while internal would contain items not as regularly used.

The finished prototype is made from a combination of materials. This includes three varieties of hardwearing fabrics, composite backing board for some rigidity, and medium density polyethylene foam to pad the bag and protect the contents. Subsequently it was called software, a play on the bags soft quality and its wear-ability.
